2 Samuel 16:1-6
Konteks16:1 When David had gone a short way beyond the summit, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth was there to meet him. He had a couple of donkeys that were saddled, and on them were two hundred loaves of bread, a hundred raisin cakes, a hundred baskets of summer fruit, 1 and a container of wine.
16:2 The king asked Ziba, “Why did you bring these things?” 2 Ziba replied, “The donkeys are for the king’s family to ride on, the loaves of bread 3 and the summer fruit are for the attendants to eat, and the wine is for those who get exhausted in the desert.” 4 16:3 The king asked, “Where is your master’s grandson?” 5 Ziba replied to the king, “He remains in Jerusalem, 6 for he said, ‘Today the house of Israel will give back to me my grandfather’s 7 kingdom.’” 16:4 The king said to Ziba, “Everything that was Mephibosheth’s now belongs to you.” Ziba replied, “I bow before you. May I find favor in your sight, my lord the king.”
16:5 Then King David reached 8 Bahurim. There a man from Saul’s extended family named Shimei son of Gera came out, yelling curses as he approached. 9 16:6 He threw stones at David and all of King David’s servants, as well as all the people and the soldiers who were on his right and on his left.
2 Samuel 19:24-30
Konteks19:24 Now Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson, 10 came down to meet the king. From the day the king had left until the day he safely 11 returned, Mephibosheth 12 had not cared for his feet 13 nor trimmed 14 his mustache nor washed his clothes.
19:25 When he came from Jerusalem to meet the king, the king asked him, “Why didn’t you go with me, Mephibosheth?” 19:26 He replied, “My lord the king, my servant deceived me! I 15 said, ‘Let me get my donkey saddled so that I can ride on it and go with the king,’ for I 16 am lame. 19:27 But my servant 17 has slandered me 18 to my lord the king. But my lord the king is like an angel of God. Do whatever seems appropriate to you. 19:28 After all, there was no one in the entire house of my grandfather 19 who did not deserve death from my lord the king. But instead you allowed me to eat at your own table! 20 What further claim do I have to ask 21 the king for anything?”
19:29 Then the king replied to him, “Why should you continue speaking like this? You and Ziba will inherit the field together.” 19:30 Mephibosheth said to the king, “Let him have 22 the whole thing! My lord the king has returned safely 23 to his house!”
